Exide Canada Inc.

Exide, a battery manufacturer, is providing batteries to registered teams at a large discount (approximately 50%).

The batteries are Exide SP-22NF gel-cell lead-acid batteries. They weigh approximately 16 kg (35 lbs) each. They have a reserve capacity of 80 minutes (25 amps discharge at 80 degrees F.)

Exide is providing these batteries to our registered teams at a significant discount. Limit 2 batteries per registered team. Taxes and a core charge are extra. The core charge can be covered by the exchange of another battery of similar size (e.g. a dead automotive battery) or recovered by returning the battery when it is no longer wanted. These batteries are available at this special price only from the Exide distribution centre located at 2447 Kaladar Avenue, Ottawa, K1Z 8B9. Please contact Mr. Terry O'Neil at (613)731-8118 to ensure they have units in stock before going to pick them up (Fax (613)731-8008). Business hours at the distribution centre are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.

Teams are not required to use the Exide batteries. They are required to use batteries that meet the rules. Use of 2 of the Exide SP-22NF batteries complies with the rules.

Institution of Electrical Engineers

Members of the local chapter of the IEE have agreed to serve as vehicle inspectors before the event to ensure that the vehicles are in compliance with our safety rules, and providing funding for one or more of the high school teams.
