Albert McMahon (M.A., M.Ed) was an educator who taught in the Ottawa Board of Education schools for 18 years beginning in 1959 until his death in 1978. He was on the staff at several Ottawa secondary schools including Ottawa Technical, Sir Wilfred Laurier, Highland Park, McArthur and Ridgemont. Coming from an academic background, he was noted for championing technical education in Ottawa high schools and encouraging co-operation between technical and academic disciplines within the educational environment. He promoted short-term work placement opportunities for students with local businesses as part of their curriculum.
This award includes a tropy and a $200 purse. Only student teams are eligible for this award, whether they are running in the HSEC or DOC class. It is sponsored by Darryl H. McMahon, Consulting.
