Gravity-based oil spill recovery vessels (from 5 metres LOA and up) pick up over 90% of oil encountered on open water, even in waves, near-gale conditions (on an appropriate vessel) and in darkness. These vessels are frequently designed to be multi-functional so they can earn a living as real work boats, and switch to oil recovery mode in less than an hour when required.
Also available as stationary floating collectors and land-based stationary collectors.

ADSORBIT is a reusable hydrocarbon filter fabric in a wide variety of form factors. It traps hydrocarbons in the fabric, which can be recovered by squeezing (wringing) the material. It prevents particulate matter (10 microns and smaller) from passing through, while cleansed water flows through, making it an effective rainwater harvesting primary filter, and effective at removing algae from skimmed surface water. We have used this to dewater algae and floating weeds picked up on a gravity skimmer boat. ADSORBIT was one of the few success stories from the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, protecting coastal and island shorelines where it was installed. Product of USA.
